A Different Way

We live in strange times.

Artists, makers, and creative people have increasingly been turned into products themselves—encouraged to compete, perform, hustle, and endlessly market ourselves while the knowledge we've spent decades building is scraped, repackaged, and fed into systems that often give little back to the people who created it.

Somewhere along the way, we forgot that creativity was never meant to be a competition.

For most of human history, knowledge was shared.

People gathered around kitchen tables, quilting frames, workbenches, and gardens. Grandmothers taught grandchildren. Friends exchanged recipes. Someone learned a skill and passed it along because that's what communities do.

We didn't hide our knowledge.

We shared it.

So after years of watching the race, I've decided this is the end of the road for me—and the beginning of something different.

This little corner of the internet is where I want to gather.

A place where we can make things together, share what we know, and remember that creativity doesn't have to be another exhausting subscription, another algorithm to feed, or another competition to win.

People often tell me, "You should teach more."

I usually smile and say, "Oh, I do."

Because the truth is, I would much rather sit with a room full of willing people and teach freely than spend my days chasing views and shouting into the void.

Life is expensive.

Most of us are overspent and overcommitted. We're subscribed to everything, renting half our lives, and tired of being asked for just one more dollar, that isn't going to bring us joy.

I see that.

Instead, I'm trying something closer to the old ways.

I believe the people who find value in what I'm sharing will help keep the lights on, in whatever ways they can, and that's enough.

No guilt. No pressure. No hustle.

Just community.

Looking Ahead

Behind the scenes, this project is already much larger than it appears.

For the past several years, I've been quietly building—not just products, but understanding.

I've spent more time learning than launching.

More time experimenting than shouting.

More time tending than scaling.

And while the internet rewards speed, I've chosen depth.

My hope is that one day this work will grow enough to support my fine art practice as well, allowing me to devote even more time to painting, making, teaching, and preserving the kinds of creative traditions that deserve to survive.

I believe we're hungry for community.

I believe we need fewer gurus and more neighbors.

I believe creativity belongs around long tables, not behind paywalls.
